Mary Dodges Board Exam. Again.
Last March 28, I went back to Ever Gotesco Commonwealth to claim my NBI clearance as instructed. This is a requirement for my board exam application which is due on March 29.
When I got there, I gave my receipt to the claiming station. The NBI guy started writing something on it. Something that looked strangely like 3…30…12(?) I started to like him even before he went on to say, “Go to the Main Office on March 30. They need to interview you before you can get your clearance.”
Hear that, Dear Reader?
That means I missed my exam application by one blessed day. That means I don’t have to worry about failing until November 2012. That means I don’t have to pretend I’m studying while secretly writing jQuery plugins for another six months, if at all.
I feel like I’ve won the lottery.
I clutched the receipt defaced with 3-30-12 as if it was worth a hundred million pesos and asked Mr. NBI again, just to be sure:
“Kuya, my board exam application deadline is tomorrow. Pano po yan, wala na ba talagang pwedeng gawin?”
And for the first time in my life, I was glad to find an irate, unhelpful government employee answer me in the usual dismissive way:
“Eh ganyan talaga eh. Wala ka nang magagawa.”
You heard the man. I’m with him on this one.
